Weave-It Weaves pattern

The pattern I chose, from the Weave It Weaves booklet, is called Double Outline Diamond. It’s easy to memorize and fun to weave.

Wrap the first three layers of loom with main (dark) yarn, the same as if making a plain weave. Break yarn and use contrast color to needle-weave the pattern. (There’s a tutorial on my website, toward the bottom of the page, about how to finish the ends when making a two-color weave.)

Weave-It Bag Preview

Finally getting around to doing one myself. The old loom pattern books often have a needlework bag pattern, so there are plenty of ideas to choose from. The one I am looking at was a leaflet from Woman’s Home Companion, which appears to be from the 30’s or 40’s. If anyone is interested, I’ll make it available as a PDF file. Anyway, here is all the “stuff” assembled.

Vintage Knitting Bags

vintagebags.JPG

Old knitting bags on ebay have been like a siren song to me and here are a few that I bought for use and display, including one made with a little loom.

Welcome!

For the past year I’ve felt the need for a blog for hand-held loom weavers. While there are occasional posts on other fiber blogs, hardly anyone is really focusing on this niche craft. I’m game to try and would love to hear from people who are interested in creating with the Weavette, Weave-It, Loomette, Jiffy Loom, etc. What are you weaving? Have you found some wonderful vintage items that were made on little looms? Do you have a project idea that you want to share? Contact me! —Jana

Next—a vintage-style knitting bag made of squares and rectangles.
